Product Description Manchego is Spain's most famous cheese. Produced in La Mancha in Central Spain, true Manchego is made from 100% sheep's milk. Cheeses from Spain are commonly made from sheep's milk because most of the territory is rocky and dry, unfriendly to cows but suitable to raising goats and sheep. The abundance of wild herbs on Central Spain's grazing lands gives Manchego a special taste and aroma. Its flavor is zesty and exuberant while its texture is firm and somewhat dry. Manchego can be recognized by the zigzag pattern etched into its rind. This is created by the rippled surface of the press used in the manufacture of the cheese. Underneath the inedible rind, the interior is ivory colored with few small holes. Taste Manchego for the first time and you will be surprised at how long the wonderful flavor lingers on your palate. It is an experience you will be drawn back to again and again. Made from pasteurized ewe's milk.

A great cheese of the world finally getting international recognition.. November 10, 2007 A. Bruce (Bothell, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Its about time Spanish products started getting their due.. The most famous (rightly so) Spanish cheese, Manchego, is world class, and is really tough to beat. Try some with some fig cake, or some quince paste, or drizzled with olive oil garnished with rosemary.. Serve with a fino sherry, manzanilla, or any number of red wines (depending on age of cheese), and you are guaranteed a winning combination.. Sliced, melted over a great burger, with a roasted red pepper and a hearty glass of earthy zinfandel = heavenly joy.. Cube and marinate in Spanish olive oil is also a treat... I have had no problems with iGourmet so far, so I can't comment on their customer service - all of my orders have been shipped quickly (1-3 business days), without issue. Their Manchego is much better than I can get at the local gourmet grocery stores. They have great specials and offers, so I have to count myself as a big iGourmet fan. Regardless, Manchego cheese is so good, you'll undoubtedly be back for more.. and more.. and more.
Great Cheese, but Customer Service is questionable August 10, 2007 Vanessa Strange (Neenah, WI) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm very fond of Manchego Cheese, but I'm most likely going to be buying it from a different vendor. I've been dealing with IGourmet for at least three years and I buy ALOT of cheese, particularly Manchego. When they were a smaller company, they seemed to be somewhat more concerned about customer service. Not now. So I'm wary about recommending purchasing cheese from them. Fortunately there are other suppliers of gourmet and specialty cheeses. I literally have spent thousands with them. Yet when I recently purchased four pounds of Manchego from them on a Monday, they waited until Thursday to ship it. No explanation. No apology. I paid for expedited shipping which once upon a time meant it would've gone out that day-instead this time they made sure I didn't get it a moment early. I'm truly disgusted with them.
